The Role and Value of the BAJU Token: Powering Next-Level Web3 Games

There are 5,000,000 BAJU tokens on offer for supporters of our Kusama crowdloan campaign. But what does BAJU do and why is it valuable? This post examines the role and value of BAJU, Ajuna’s primary utility token on Kusama.

We want to radically reboot Web3 gaming to enable faster, more graphically rich and immersive blockchain games. But to do it, we need a secure base of operations. That’s why we recently launched a crowdloan campaign to fund our bid to secure a Kusama parachain. If you wish to support the campaign, you can back us directly on our official crowdloan page. In return, we are offering a compelling package of rewards to crowdloan supporters, including BAJU tokens and exclusive, playable NFTs. In this post, we will explain the role and value of the core reward on offer, the BAJU token.

BAJU will be the primary utility token on Bajun Network, Ajuna’s home on Kusama. The token will fuel all of the core functionality of our Web3 gaming platform: it will be used to deploy new games, pay network fees, support up-and-coming game projects, and access specialized services. Below, we will discuss the functions of BAJU for both developers and gamers, and examine its role in governance and staking procedures.

BAJU’s Role for Game Developers and Studios Deploy games on a Game Chain:

For Web3 games to achieve widespread adoption, they have to be competitive with traditional games in terms of speed and performance. Ajuna provides access to second-layer sidechains called Game Chains that massively reduce gameplay latency compared to conventional blockchain titles. Developers who want to deploy a game on an Ajuna Game Chain need to stake BAJU to secure a slot.

Issue a native token:

An Ajuna Game Chain slot is also required in order to issue a native game token. Native game tokens are used to access and pay for all Ajuna services related to a specific game. They also provide the game with a more distinctive identity and open up a wider array of options to the developer when establishing an in-game economy.

Pay network fees:

Some smaller indie developers may wish to deploy games on Ajuna that are less demanding in terms of speed and processing power. For instance, turn-based strategy games tend to have lower requirements in terms of latency. In these cases, the developer may opt not to use a Game Chain and to pay for Ajuna transaction fees directly with BAJU instead.

BAJU’s Role for Gamers Access Gaming Services

For gamers, BAJU will open the door to a wide array of gaming services including tournaments, in-game auctions, season passes, and NFTs. In addition, BAJU will be required to access the Trust Score System, which is used to track the trustworthiness of other players when playing online or forming teams.

Back New Games In future, Ajuna will establish an auction mechanism for allocating Game Chain slots. New up-and-coming developers will pitch their game concepts and ask the community for support to secure a Game Chain. Gamers will be able to stake BAJU to support their favourite projects and receive rewards from the developers in return, in a similar fashion to Kusama/Polkadot crowdloans.

Governance and Staking Procedures Staking

All token holders who stake BAJU will be rewarded with more BAJU, game tokens, or NFTs from Ajuna games. Staking rewards will be financed through a levy on network fees. Initially, these staking rewards will be further subsidized through a token reserve of up to 1% of BAJU tokens.

Governance All BAJU holders will be entitled to participate in governance processes on the Bajun Network. This includes the right to elect the BAJU Treasury Council, vote on grant proposals, and vote on feature requests and upgrades for first-party games exclusive to the Bajun Network.

Token Allocation and Crowdloan Rewards The Bajun network will have a fixed supply of 50 million BAJU tokens. The tokens will be allocated as follows:

In total, 10% of the overall token supply, which equates to 5,000,000 BAJU, will be distributed to our crowdloan supporters as rewards. For each KSM you contribute to our crowdloan, you will receive a minimum of 110 BAJU in rewards. But remember that’s just the minimum — if our crowdloan cap of 35,000 KSM is not reached, your share of the BAJU rewards could be considerably higher. There are also early bird and referral bonuses on offer, giving you many ways to secure additional BAJU. For full details on our crowdloan rewards, read this post.

So what does that mean in a nutshell? The BAJU token will be at the heart of the Bajun Network, used by both developers and gamers to access all of the core functionality of the platform. Given that the supply profile of the BAJU token is fixed, we expect its value to be closely linked to the adoption of Ajuna’s gaming platform services on Kusama. The more developers who deploy games and the more gamers who play them, the greater the demand for BAJU will be. If you believe in the potential of Web3 gaming, Ajuna’s Kusama crowdloan campaign gives you the opportunity to obtain a utility token that will power a next-generation decentralized gaming platform.

Ajuna Network is a decentralized gaming platform that delivers real value to gamers, without compromising on gameplay.

It makes the world’s leading development engines — Unity and Unreal — fully integrated with the world of blockchain-based in-game assets. Now gamers don’t have to choose between real value and real games — Ajuna gives them both.

Real Value: Gamers can own their in-game virtual assets, and protect and control their functionality through a public and decentralized blockchain. Never again will their hard-earned weapons, clothing and items be rendered worthless by the decisions of game company executives.

Real Games: Ajuna games can be created with industry-leading development platforms, while latency is massively reduced by running game engines in powerful, off-chain trusted execution environments (TEEs) linked to the Polkadot blockchain network.
