All roads leading to DotSama (May 29th -...

What is up my friends! The past two years have seen limited in-person gatherings, but the DotSama community has been on the road, including an impactful showing at Davos last week.

The value of a community able to meet up in person is not to be underestimated. Much can be done over video or within early Metaverses, but sometimes it’s important to further enhance relationships in real spaces.

TOP NEWS OF THE WEEK

Last week was surely eventful in Davos, however, the road is just warming up. With Decoded on the horizon, there is a whole glut of events through the end of the month and beyond.

Kicked off on Monday, May 30th was Polkadot Hackathon North America Edition 2022. This is a 6-week virtual program with many of the teams in the ecosystem running challenges. It also sets the tone for the very first Polkadot Hacker House, which is a 6-day in-person event from June 23rd to 28th. The combined hackathons have a prize pool of $600K USD.

Then there was the WASM conference on May 31st, which was a one-day virtual conference. The event had 15 speakers representing quite a good number of the teams within the ecosystem with an interest in the development of WASM smart contracts.

Next up is DotSama Prague, which is an all-day in-person event on June 7th featuring a number of talks from various teams with an afterparty. Tickets might still be available as well as the chance at the awareness campaign, which could win you some KSM and special NFTs.

Or if crowds are your thing, then there is the big industry-wide Consensus 2022 festival in Austin TX, which takes place from June 9th to 12th. A good number of DotSama teams will be there, some involved will be with more focused Dcentral by either speaking or with booths. Or how about a rooftop meet-up? And, of course, there is the main stage session “Consensus Foundations: Polkadot” with strong representation, which is then followed by an evening mixer.

Did you notice the great man himself, Dr. Gavin Wood with a session at the Collision Conference in Toronto on June 21st? We’ve heard that the event between June 20th to 23rd has quite a wild line-up including Melo (“shooters shoot”).

Towards the end of the month, we have the eagerly anticipated third-time installment of Polkadot Decoded. From June 29th to 30th there will be a mixture of online and in-person live events. Live events will cover the globe with conferences in Berlin, Buenos Aires, Hangzhou, and New York. Do make sure to register for the event of the year!

Finally, straight around the corner on July 1st will be Unchained, an event that further embraces the multichain future with a strong DotSama cast as well as representation from the Cosmos and Ethereum ecosystem.

There is a new project on the Rococo testnet – GmOrDie is an up and coming new parachain
ICON / ICE network published an article about decentralized exchange (DEX) on the ICE Blockchain. It covers generic DEX working, how to deploy token and smart contracts, and various other tooling on the Arctic Network.
The AllianceBlock DEX is now live on Energy Web Chain's mainnet. It aims to become a fully decentralized blockchain interoperability platform that allows users to exchange all types of tokens from one network to another.
Polkadot.js Plus extension is now on firefox, and it provides an improved UI. Additionally, pool staking is coming very soon too.
Moonriver with more XCM integrations as xcCSM (Crust Shadow), and xcHKO (Parallel Heiko) are now live. So we may soon need to use that scroll bar.

Congratulations to Bajun Network for winning the 38th Kusama parachain slot (37th auction). Contributions were 33 261 KSM, from 1971 contributors. (NOTE: 3rd party contribution breakdown to be confirmed). Also, did you do their Crowdloan Secrets?
Congratulations to the Bifrost Team, as they win the 18th Polkadot Auction. They have collected over 400K+ $DOT from 700+ contributors (parachains.info). Furthermore, those who contributed after Bifrost's soft cap of 300K DOT will get CL rewards from Bifrost as per this Twitter thread.

NFTs and the Metaverse: The Heartbeat of Dotsama

Moonsama 2.0 was officially announced with equippable NFTs and updated artwork. As mentioned in the Moonsama 2.0 introduction article, one of the key aspects here is Interoperability/Multichain – with the multiverse bridge, it will effectively mean different NFT standards can be integrated. Furthermore, Kilt will be integrated, where Social KYC will play a role in accessing the multiverse bridge.

There should be quite a few opportunities for WL, for instance, there was a collaboration with Kusama Dragons.

It's a really comprehensive update, and in terms of timelines, the Alpha testnet for the public phase appears to be earmarked for July, and thereafter, it will be launched on Pioneer, followed by Continuum/Polkadot Crowdloan.

The Mangata X MGX-KSM Liquidity Bootstrapping Event has a date: It will begin next Wednesday, June 8th!
You can now stake of vKSM (i.e. staked KSM) on Bifrost, to farm BNC.
Zenlink launched 4pool for aUSD-USDC-USDT-FRAX and it is available on both Moonriver and Moonbeam chains. Additionally, Zenlink has launched a new LP vKSM/KSM where you can farm ZLK and BNC rewards.
WePiggy is now on Moonbeam and provides another chain to consider cracking that Piggy Bank and using this protocol instead. Earn APY on those savings, and if you want you can partake in the liquidity mining incentive program. NOTE: This protocol is already accessible on Moonriver and other chains.
You can now swap DOT on Astar Network via ArthSwap. And there are also some juicy APR to be had when depositing your DOT into their liquidity pools for farming.
Liquid staking of DOT is now on Moonbeam via Lido Finance.
Vulture Finance is coming to Moonbeam and Moonriver networks, enabling single-sided AMM and stable swap capabilities to users on both networks. Expect: Single-sided staking, Incentive mechanism for auto-balancing pools, lowest slippage on large trades, NFT reward mechanism, and distribution incentives for governance participants.
Now you can use SubBridge to transfer your $PHA token to or from ERC-20, Karura, Moonriver & Bifrost and potentially partake in Defi on some of those chains.
A new stable pool is coming soon to Kusama via Wormhole.
Taiga/Taipo has partnered with SubQuery. The partnership will help provide data and indexing services to power many of its servers and applications. For instance, this will be used for the dashboard that provides details on synthetic assets such as taiKSM and soon to be launched 3Pool & tDOT.
Starlay with a response over all the recent drama. It covers: the fallout of the whale being allowed in after the IDO was "over"; a proposal to give 1.5 LAY to those who participated in the IDO; using funds raised from IDO and Dapp staking to buy back LAY on Arthswap if approved by the community.
Well done, as Composable has IBC up and running, being the first Dotsama project to implement IBC.
Acala has enabled 3pool on their front end. But still can't bridge with Wormhole yet, so the official launch is still on hold. That being said right now you can swap and add liquidity, however, there appears to be no staking/earning? Also, tDOT is now shown as listed on Acala – soft launch expected.
New requirements regarding adjusting the Liquidation ratio of Acala's LKSM and LCDOT. Here are the details for the vault ratio. It will come into effect soon.
Parallel Finance's NFT money market is about to be alive!
Acala's liquid crowdloan DOT product, lcDOT, is now listed on Coingecko. As is its liquid staking DOT product, lDOT.
aUSD continues to bring attention to the Polkadot ecosystem. Covering how aUSD is a collateralized stable, and how aUSD is very different from UST, which is algorithmic.
DOT is now listed on Starlay, the largest lending dapp on Astar.

Governance

Did you manage to participate in Referendum 203 to vote on RMRK token sufficiency on Statemine. People won't need an existential deposit in KSM to interact with RMRK tokens on the Statemine chain. A vote for this was previously passed, but due to some issues couldn’t be executed.
Referendum 204 was also up for voting, it was to establish an HRMP channel between Shiden and Statemine.
Referendum participation NFTs that got distributed include the following: 197 (Money theme), 198 (Fountain theme), 199 (Necklace theme), and 200 (Motorbike theme).
Did you meet the deadline for the snapshot for the egg hatch for the Governance Participation Rewards? If you did then you may want to check to see if your name is on the winning list.
Parallel Finance has an important on-chain governance vote. This is for listing the Heiko HKO token on central exchanges.

Seems like Polaris Dao creator has rugged the project. The discord is deleted, and actions appeared to be taken with discussing with DAO members. A tweet (which has been deleted) along with a mediumarticle came out. With the LP incentive program still ongoing, some in the community are looking to see if there is a way to take over.
