Chat Anonymously With Grill.chat

We are excited to announce the newest mobile-focused app launching on Subsocial, Grill.chat!

Anyone can use Grill.chat to discuss various topics online in a completely anonymous and censorship-resistant method. As an app focused on mobile users, we wanted to make it very lightweight, and you can use Grill.chat without needing tokens or a wallet, due to Subsocial’s unique energy system!

To get started, visit Grill.chat, pick a topic to discuss, and send your first message - it’s that simple! This will generate an account for you, and if you want to continue using the same account, you can save your private key to come back later or log in from another device. If you lose your private key, you won’t be able to restore access to that account, but you can always create a new one with ease.

Grill.chat is currently deployed on xSocial, a solochain version of Subsocial with 2 second blocktimes, which we launched to enable the fast speeds needed for on-chain messaging. In the future, once parachain block times are reduced, we aim to port Grill.chat onto the official Subsocial parachain. Grill.chat also takes advantage of Web3Buckets, an innovative cloud storage feature developed by the Crust team!

If you would like to discuss a new topic on Grill.chat, just let us know. In the future, users will be able to create their own communities directly from the app.

Additionally, we plan to integrate Subsocial Usernames, allowing you to create a community tied to your username, functioning as a subdomain. For example, if Bob has bob.grill, and launches a Grill.chat community called BobTown, you could visit it at bob.grill.chat!

Grill.chat can even be built into other applications to unlock the power of social interactions in any dapp!

Grill.chat’s code is open-source, meaning you can fork it and customize its look, feel, and feature set as much as you want. If you have any related questions for our development team, join our developer chat, and if you have any feedback or feature suggestions, let us know.

This is just the beginning, and while we realize there currently isn’t any reason to use this over many Web2 chat rooms, we plan to add web3 native features such as content monetization, enabling community-wide monetization activities. Grill.chat forms an easy proof of concept for adding chat features to any dapp in Web3, which we think will become increasingly important in the coming years. In the future, it will be easy to add this chat functionality to other dapps, allowing developers to transform their apps into social experiences.

In the meantime, we’ll see you at The Grill!

Subsocial is an open platform that allows for the integration of user-friendly Web3 social features into existing applications, or the creation of brand new socially-powered apps from the ground up. In fact, Subsocial's innovative UX solutions make using Web3 so simple, even your grandma can use it!

By providing all of the native features required for creating decentralized social experiences, Subsocial allows developers to focus on building apps, not on re-inventing the wheel, and helps them stand out from the competition by delivering a user-centric social experience.
