  • Referendum 70, proposing to increase the maximum number of HRMP channels from 10 to 30, was passed and executed.
  • Referendum 72, proposing to upgrade the Polkadot runtime to v9270, is currently passing unanimously.
  • Motion 249, funding a Treasury Proposal for PolkaWatch maintenance, has been approved by the Polkadot Council.
  • Motion 250, proposing to approve a Treasury Proposal for PolkaWorld maintenance and operations, has been passed by the Polkadot Council.
  • Motion 252, to fund the development of Ziggurat, a network testing and stability framework, is up for vote.
  • Motion 253, to fund costs for Milestone 2 of Subwalletโ€™s Web3 Multiverse Wallet, is up for vote.
  • Motion 254, to upgrade Statemint common good chain to v9270, is up for vote. This release introduces the ability to buy and sell NFTs in the Uniques pallet, among other things.
  • With nomination pools just around the corner, the Staking Team published a proposal requesting higher nomination limits on Polkadot.

Currently, nominators can freely set their intention to nominate in Polkadot, as long as they meet two limits: a minimum of 10 DOTs is staked, and a maximum of 50,000 nominators is not filled. This creates a nomination market, where in every era, the top 22,500 nominators from this open market are chosen to participate: nomination pools are exactly here to combat this, but the team aims to prevent too many waiting nominators to be created. To achieve this, we can set the nomination limits (10 DOTs, 50,000) such that the system is not so inviting to waiting nominators. In other words, the system should try and prevent nominators from being created, if they are certainly going to end up being in the waiting queue, encouraging them to use pools instead. More information can be found on the post.

๐ŸŒŽ Community & Ecosystem

  • Interested in building in Polkadot and looking for support? Check out Square One, a guide to resources available for builders in the ecosystem.
  • Sub0, the Polkadot Developer Conference, is back this year 28-29 November in Lisbon, Portugal and online.
  • The Polkadot Forum is now live and open to the public. It is for focused discussion of Polkadot: ecosystem, development, governance, etc.

Shawn Tabrizi started an excellent conversation on how XCM will be used with XCMP there. If you are interested in learning more about XCM itself, he has also posted a list of resources.

  • Web3 Foundation is open-sourcing a fully succinct BLS signature aggregation achieved using custom SNARKs. This allows one to define and construct accountable light client systems that, in turn, are the core cryptographic primitive used for building bridges between PoS blockchains. For details, see here.
  • Reddit user EvilRabbit817 has put together a very comprehensive post with FAQs (and answers) about staking on Polkadot.
  • Interested in an overview of whatโ€™s been developed on the open-source Polkadot/Kusama Tech Stack? As usual, the information can be found on the Polkadot Wiki.
