Polkadot Updates

🔴 ⭕️ Relay Chain

total supply - ~1.25B DOT | staking - 51.1% | parachains & crowdloans - 11%

Polkadot v0.9.31has been released with LOW upgrade priority.
Nomination pools are now live on Polkadot. You can now stake and obtain staking rewards by nominating via pool with a minimum of 1 DOT. This followed the successful passing and execution of Referendum 83, to set the initial configurations for nomination pools.

🔴 🏛 Governance

Referendum 77, proposing to approve a Treasury Proposal to fund development of Gossamer, a Polkadot Host implementation written in Go, has passed.
Referendum 80, seeking sufficiency for USDT on Statemint, is currently passing with 98% in favor.
Referendum 81, to on-board Collectives as a common-good parachain, is passing with 99% in favor with 15 days left to vote.
Referendum 82, proposing to fix Referendum 74 and open 6 HRMP channels from Statemint, has passed.
There are 2 proposals in the public queue - you can endorse to determine which one will be voted on next as a Referendum.

Referendum 240, proposing to open an HRMP channel between Statemine and Picasso, has failed. It was noted that the proposal would not work if executed.
Referendum 241, approving a Treasury Proposal for development of the Fearless Wallet, is currently passing with 53% in favor and 4 days left to vote.

Note that this Referendum is a simple “majority-carries” (no adaptive quorum biasing).

Motion 565, to fund the creation of Polkadot Forms—a series of forms and tests in English and Spanish—that will allow the community to learn and test their knowledge in a dynamic way, is under consideration.
There are 12 proposals in the public queue - endorse which one you would like to see as a Referendum next here:
Encointer is seeking feedback on a potential second Treasury Proposal for funding.
Encointer is also proposing to extend its common-good parachain slot lease another 48 weeks.

- Astar announced its first WASM showcase dApp.
Centrifuge raised $4m from Coinbase in a strategic round.
OAK published a new weekly update.
- OAK kicked off its Youtube Live Web Series with guest Bill Laboon from Web3 Foundation for a conversation about Governance.
- OAK launched a Docker image with sudo and dev-queue features enabled for developers. This allows users to easily test the OAK Network’s blockchain.
Subsocial now has a new onboarding flow for its web app.

- Pendulum published Introducing the Stellar Oracle.
Mangata published a roadmap update.
Bifrost published a new monthly report.
- Bifrost released an upgrade to its dApp.
Acala and Karura are now supported on Ledger.

Manta is on track to break the record of largest trusted setup in Zero-Knowledge Proof’s history.
Moonbeam announced an integration with Kujira , allowing for cross-chain DOT token transfers between the two platforms via Axelar.
- Moonbeam announced a new community forum.
- Moonbeam Illuminate is back for 2022 with a new virtual Web3 conference on November 10th-11th
OnFinality announced that Phala is now added to its blockchain node marketplace.

Polkadot Metaverse Championship announced the start of the prequalification process for the upcoming hackathon with a prize pool of $36K. (Dec 5-7)
Web3 Foundation announced that DOT is now a software.
