Polkadot Updates

🔴 ⭕️ Relay Chain

total supply - ~1.25B DOT | staking - 51.1% | parachains & crowdloans - 11%

  • Polkadot v0.9.31has been released with LOW upgrade priority.
  • Nomination pools are now live on Polkadot. You can now stake and obtain staking rewards by nominating via pool with a minimum of 1 DOT. This followed the successful passing and execution of Referendum 83, to set the initial configurations for nomination pools.

🔴 🏛 Governance

  • Referendum 77, proposing to approve a Treasury Proposal to fund development of Gossamer, a Polkadot Host implementation written in Go, has passed.
  • Referendum 80, seeking sufficiency for USDT on Statemint, is currently passing with 98% in favor.
  • Referendum 81, to on-board Collectives as a common-good parachain, is passing with 99% in favor with 15 days left to vote.
  • Referendum 82, proposing to fix Referendum 74 and open 6 HRMP channels from Statemint, has passed.
  • There are 2 proposals in the public queue - you can endorse to determine which one will be voted on next as a Referendum.

🦅 🏛 Governance

  • Referendum 240, proposing to open an HRMP channel between Statemine and Picasso, has failed. It was noted that the proposal would not work if executed.
  • Referendum 241, approving a Treasury Proposal for development of the Fearless Wallet, is currently passing with 53% in favor and 4 days left to vote.

Note that this Referendum is a simple “majority-carries” (no adaptive quorum biasing).
