Unbound & Unleash the Chaos! (September 2nd - September 8th)

What is up, my friends! This week we witness “Unbounded”, the world’s first open-source, freely available, on-chain font, funded by the Polkadot Treasury. The intention is clear in name and nature, as it accommodates hundreds of languages worldwide including those typically overlooked.

WagMedia (WM) takes a similar approach when it comes to languages. As covered last week, translations provide valuable information that essentially unbounds and accommodates audiences in different languages around the world.

So what about the non-Anglo content? Some would say they are difficult to obtain like rare NFTs from top collections. Perhaps the reality is that Polkadot and Kusama are better known by crypto charts, institutional investors, and Web3 developers, as non-Anglo content is not easily accessible.

WM believes in continued support for creators in their personal journeys, and where possible, help cultivate it. For instance, tutorials for the Hindi community was funded by the Kusama treasury through WM and are available on the @describedot YouTube channel.

Or in terms of communities, the Spanish-speaking community is arguably the largest; two notable Spanish content creators within WagMedia have stood out in particular. @LV has a large subscriber base that tunes into his recorded video streams regularly where he predominantly covers DotSama NFTs, here’s his latest one, for example. Since joining WM, @MrDefi has been making high-quality DotSama Defi videos, which have resulted in strong viewership figures.

Regarding other spoken languages in the World, Chinese and Portuguese are also covered by WM. @guokai, in his own words, is a Chinese community education worker and produces some unique content, some with funny storylines. Being a well-known Astar Ambassador, @pitcoin regularly produces Portuguese content across different mediums including his Astar news update videos and Twitter threads.

How about non-Anglo content channels? @kryptoschain has launched the Polkadot Romania YouTube channel via the WM Romanian language unit.

There are a number of creators getting started with a mix of English and non-Anglo content. One great example of a creator tackling two worlds would be @goku, who has written articles in both Turkish and English.

What we’ve covered here is just a sample of what WM fosters. The growth of awesome creators can collectively generate different content for a wide range of people groups, and that, is awesome.

TOP NEWS OF THE WEEK

The NFT markets are heating up, led by Raresama, a marketplace launched on Moonbeam by the Moonsama community. In only a week’s time since launch, the volume has hit an impressive 1.2M GLMR in sales.

Most NFTs on the Dotsama space thus far have been on Kusama and Kusama’s parachains, with only a few collections gaining traction on Polkadot’s parachains thus far though with NFT volume tapering significantly down in the midst of the bear market.

The first collection on Raresama, however, is making serious waves.

These Gromlins, malaligned characters up to no good, will remain the OG collection of Raresama. If we’ve learned anything about OG collections, it’s that OG collections that have broken out and held early attention have high chances of becoming blue chips in the long term. We’re certainly going to keep an eye on them.

But it’s not only the Gromlins brewing up a storm. Raresama’s mission is to support artists, especially those making 1/1s. In this spirit, Raresama has launched an auctioning platform in batches, now on their last batch of auctions, and they’ve performed extremely well. Top sale of 11.1K GLMR, and low sale of a respectable 2.65k GLMR thus far, it’s incredible to see this kind of energy and attention on a brand-new marketplace.

Next up is the launch of Exosama late September, which is meant to gather attention from OpenSea and hopefully bring it back to Polkadot. Let’s see what happens.

We can only hope that this is just the beginning of spirited engagement and competition in all NFT marketplaces in Dotsama and we encourage all community members to stay respectful during these times. Competition breeds innovation, but success of one is good for all.

Now on to the usual flurry of news & content!
