Fund the Chaos! (July 8th - July 14th)

What is up my friends! The amount of news and content that continues coming through WagMedia is staggering. If you have been on the server recently, then you would have likely noticed the thread about the Bounty 12 Top Up.

Bounty 12 relates to the council-awarded grant from the Kusama treasury, which provides funds for WagMedia to Decentralize the Story of DotSama. As mentioned by Jay, the intention was always to get the bounty topped up, especially given that the council asked for the addition of proposal and translation arms.

By now, many of us would have recognized the extraordinary value of WagMedia: one-stop shop for DotSama news, a heaven for content creators, and quality content in different languages are just some of the points expressed by the community.

We recommend you check out the thread on discord as there is plenty of top content, project initiatives, language translations, and testimonials that the community has posted to back the proposal.

Additionally, you can now find on Subsquare an open discussion relating to the proposal. In fact, the 6-month maintenance proposal combines the ongoing funding for the Kusamarian as well as the development of WagMedia. Do lend some support by hitting the upvote or dropping a comment.

TOP NEWS OF THE WEEK

On a similar note, project teams within DotSama are also looking for treasury funding. For instance, Bifrost has in the past week secured a liquidity loan via referendum, many may have noticed it with the participation of governance reward NFTs.

Funding is also available for parachain teams such as Zenlink, after proposing a grant from Astar for liquidity as they look to onboard the parachain into their dApp. Pendulum also with their recent Kusama auction win has an ongoing grant program for developers building on their chain.

Moving on to the parachain auctions, the situation has calmed down after the previous wild week. There are some interesting developments shaping up.

With experimentation on people’s minds after the interview with Dr. Gavin Wood, we see this being embraced with the GM Parachain entering the Kusama auction. If you don’t know much about this project then check out the thread posted by @Cris_Pap on the WagMedia discord.

Whilst the GM parachain made a good start to the auction, they’ve been overtaken by Kintsugi’s self-funded bid which is set to maintain till the end of the auction period. Soon to follow, Snow Network has announced its participation in the 45th Kusama auction.

As things stand, there are 4 existing Kusama parachains that are coming up for renewal, with a deadline just after the end of the next 4 Kusama auctions.

We have Heiko with an ongoing crowdloan, Kintsugi with a self-funded bid, and Altair and Basilik who have yet to enter the auction.

Regarding the Polkadot auctions, we now see two bids far ahead, with Integritee’s Polkadot parachain, and the unknown team behind Parathread 2055. Similar to the Kusama auctions, Integritee’s bid was suddenly overtaken by a self-funded bid that maintains the lead.

Additionally, ChainX has now resurfaced into the auction mix with their association with OmniBTC who entered the Polkadot auction.

Perhaps the sign of the bear market, the thing to notice with the majority of those offering a crowdloan is low allocations for contribution rewards.

Now onto the usual flurry of news and content!
